Meet Our Team
Kathryn C. Furtado
Kathryn founded ARX after nearly two decades litigating complex, high-stakes cases as a federal and state prosecutor, trial attorney, and defense counsel. Throughout her career, she came to understand that today’s most consequential legal challenges rarely begin or end in the courtroom. For individuals and businesses facing an investigation, criminal charge, regulatory action, or other crisis, the consequences can extend far beyond the legal proceeding—threatening careers, professional licenses, businesses, reputations, and everything they have spent years building.
Kathryn established ARX with a straightforward objective: to give individuals and businesses access to the sophisticated legal, investigative, technical, and strategic resources traditionally available to the government, large institutions, and those with substantial resources. ARX was built to level the playing field.
Kathryn’s clients frequently confront matters involving not only significant legal exposure, but also technology, cybersecurity, digital evidence, regulatory scrutiny, employment issues, public perception, and reputational risk. She represents licensed professionals, executives, high-profile individuals, and others facing criminal charges, government investigations, regulatory and administrative proceedings, employment disputes, and other sensitive matters where the consequences can be both professional and personal.
Her approach extends beyond defending the immediate legal matter. Kathryn works with clients to understand the broader risks they face, protect what they have built, and develop a strategy designed to address both the legal proceeding and its collateral consequences. She is known for candid advice, meticulous preparation, strategic judgment, and the relentless pursuit of the best possible outcome for her clients.
Kathryn brings unparalleled courtroom experience to every engagement. She has tried more than fifty jury trials to verdict, in addition to numerous bench trials, and has litigated a substantial number of motions, evidentiary hearings, and administrative proceedings across the country. She also served as a public defender for the Gila River Indian Community in Arizona, where she represented clients in criminal, juvenile, and family law matters. Kathryn’s practice is built on a simple principle: clients facing significant legal challenges deserve more than a lawyer who understands the law. They deserve an advocate who understands what is at stake and has the experience, resources, and determination to protect it.
Kathryn is admitted to practice in Arizona, Maryland, and the District of Columbia and is also admitted to practice before multiple federal courts.
Jerald Ogden
Jerald is a former Army Special Operations professional, intelligence practitioner, and entrepreneur. He built his career finding information, identifying connections, and solving complex problems in extraordinarily high-pressure environments. At ARX, Jerald leads the firm’s electronic, technical, and open-source information-gathering capabilities. Through his expertise, ARX’s attorneys and clients have access to sophisticated investigative resources designed to uncover information that traditional legal investigations may not reveal and to identify information relevant to a client’s case or critical to an effective crisis response.
Jerald brings more than two decades of experience operating at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels in support of Special Operations missions worldwide. Unlike many intelligence consultants whose careers have centered on managing programs, Jerald developed his expertise by performing the work firsthand—collecting and analyzing intelligence, operating technical systems, conducting surveillance, supporting sensitive operations, locating individuals, and transforming fragmented information into actionable intelligence.
His work at ARX focuses on the intersection of intelligence, technology, and investigations. Jerald’s capabilities are particularly valuable in matters where the available facts tell only part of the story. For ARX clients, Jerald’s mission is straightforward: find the information others miss, understand what it means, and help the legal team put it to work. His years of Special Operations experience taught him to approach problems methodically, adapt as new information emerges, and distinguish meaningful information from noise. At ARX, that information is used to inform legal and investigative strategy. Working at the direction of counsel where appropriate, Jerald collaborates with ARX attorneys and investigative professionals to ensure that technical and information-gathering efforts remain focused on the questions that matter most to the client’s case.
A competitive track and cross-country runner throughout high school and college, Jerald developed the discipline, resilience, and endurance that would later characterize his military and professional career. Those qualities continue to define his approach today: persistent, analytical, resourceful, and focused on results.
